U.S. Rep. Dr. Mark Green (R-TN-07) on Monday called for a “permanent solution to the border crisis.”
Green, a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, made his statement in regard to both the Senate and House, which reportedly are working on bills simultaneously to bring humanitarian relief to the ongoing border crisis.
According to both a press release and a tweet, Green said, “Whatever Congress passes must include a permanent solution to the border crisis. We must fix our legal loopholes. Via the president’s emergency declaration, we are getting the physical wall built. But we need to build a legal wall by fixing the loopholes.”

The report that Green referenced was from The Hill, which said President Donald Trump’s $4.5 billion border spending request is facing obstacles in differences between the Senate and House versions.
The bills are similar on the amount of funding but differ on other topics like funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Defense Department, meaning they may have to be resolved in a conference committee.
Earlier this month, Green spoke with Eric Shawn of Fox News about Trump’s U.S.-Mexico border deal and the border crisis, The Tennessee Star reported.
Green said that while immigrants are suffering, the border crisis is affecting Americans in terms of money and that 300 Americans die every week from overdose of drugs.
Trump “added teeth” to the Mexico trade deal, which makes it more likely to work, Green said. The policy would end the “Flores Agreement.” Under that agreement, if an asylum-seeker “grabs a child, they’ve got a visa to get into the United States,” Green said.
Green served in the U.S. military for 24 years and is a veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan, according to his press release. He was on the mission to capture Saddam Hussein and interrogated the dictator for six hours.

How does Rep. Green feel about the recent allegations of child abuse at border detention centers? He and his fellow Republicans used to give a lot of lip service to “Family” Values and about the rights of crime victims, especially of children who suffered physical and sexual abuse at the hands of those adults who were supposed to care for them.
The recent revelations last night on National Public Radio of little children and even infants being deprived of food, hygiene, adequate bedding, no adult supervision, and adequate social interaction should make any self-respecting person sick to his or her stomach. Where does Lee stand on these child abuse and child molestation allegations? If it is true, it means that many of our ICE officials are morally unfit to be around children.
Where were the “Victims’ Rights” Republicans when this abuse occurred?
